GILGIT :Secretary Forest and Wildlife GilgitBaltistan Asifullah Khan said Tuesday the government is taking serious measures to grow more trees for providing pollution-free environment for citizens.

Chairing a meeting to review preparations for plantation campaign in Gilgit Baltistan, in spring season this year, the secretary said more than two million saplings would be planted during the drive, directing all out efforts should be made to pursue the plan in letter and spirit.

He was of the view that concerned officials should prefer saplings from local nurseries instead of transporting them from other cities like Swat etc in order to benefit local people and inculcate spirit of planting more trees in the area.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Dr Kazam Niyaz inquired after well-being of French climber, who is admitted to a hospital in Islamabad and prayed for early recovery of health.
